Artist of the MonthThe Artist Subi
The Artist Subi's surrealist paintings are inspired by the myriad of locations she's called home throughout her life; from her birthplace in San Francisco, California to West Virginia, Hawaii, New York, and South Beach (where she currently resides). She grew up in a religious commune, without television, and her main outlet became drawing and painting which spurned her artistic career. Subi is a self-taught student of masters such as O'Keefe and Salvador Dali. She believes that one of the most difficult things to understand are the human form's the many different planes. Once the human form is understood, everything else will come more easily. This notion is evoked in the organic and fluid nature of her vibrantly colored oil paintings.
Currently on display are selected works from her Hawaii, New York, and Miami collections, presented by A.N.E.W. museum/galleries. Click here for more info. News Summary
