Artist of the Month

Kazilla

Kazilla aka Cassie Williams is a young artist who's style bounds between the street arts and fine arts. Originally from Santa Fe, NM she currently exhibits the breadth of her work in Miami, FL. After moving to the east coast her work has transcended the street arts and combined her two styles of fine art and graffiti to create an edgy, colorful clash of two very different worlds.

The feminine figures, surreal landscapes and vibrant colors create a daunting visual feast for all audiences. She also works as a live artist, designer, muralist, photographer, producer, lyricist, singer and musician.

Currently on display are selected works from her collection.

This Saturday Get Into ‘Dance Ritual’ With LOUIE VEGA

Saturday, July 17, 2010 Featured

louieforwebsite2

This Saturday - July 17th - The Vagabond and Back Door Bamby welcome LOUIE VEGA!

‘Little Louie’ Vega’s Dance Ritual is cast from a different mold than other parties in the City of Lights. Vega’s 5-hour solo sets are born out of all night marathons at Larry Levan’s Paradise Garage and David Mancuso’s Loft. Dance Ritual is a slowly-building crescendos of bumpy house music, Afro-Cuban influenced tribal rhythms, and fervent soulful vocals, climaxing with a crowd full of satisfied yet quizzical expressions, wondering where the night went, why the sun is out, and why their feet hurt so much.

I would recommend wearing some comfortable shoes.

Doors Open at 10PM
Complimentary Belvedere Vodka from 10-11PM

Today’s electronic dance culture is due for a melodic transcendence from the shadowy, industrial electro that has been hammering away at the scene. As dance floors begin to buckle under such weighty beats, Brussels-based AEROPLANE is dedicated to elevating its fans toward a higher musical space undefined by standardized genres. They reach for freedom from constraints of predictability, weaving currents of psychedelic guitars, pop keys, disco beats, catchy bass lines and melancholic waves into a singular connection of modern beat-driven music.

Also Featuring Resident DJs
RAY MILIAN . MIKE DEUCE . LOLO . UVS . CARMEL OPHIR
JUST DANDY . ALEX CASO + guests

What are you doing here?
What do you want?
Is it music?
We can play music.
But you want more.
You want something & someone new.
Am I right?
Of course I am.
You want ecstasy
Desire & dreams.
Things not exactly what they seem.
I lead you this way, he pulls that way.
I'm not singing to an imaginary girl.
I'm talking to you, my self.
Let's recreate the world.
The palace of conception is burning.
Look. See it burn.
Bask in the warm hot coals.
You're too young to be old
You don't need to be told
You want to see things as they are.
You know exactly what I do
Everything
- Jim Morrison

On This Day In Music History

July 30th, 1954

Slim Whitman, Billy Walker, Sugarfoot Collins, Sonny Harvelle, Tinker Fry, Curly Harris and a young Elvis Presley, all appeared at the Hillbilly Hoedown, Overton Park Shell, in Memphis Tennessee. Elvis was so nervous he stood up on the balls of his feet and shook his leg in time with the music, when he came offstage he asked why people were yelling at him. Someone told him it was because he was shaking his leg, which with the baggy pleated pants created a wild gyrating effect in time with the music.

Let's make a connection.
